Rosalee Tuten

January 6, 1927 — March 21, 2021

The world lost a beloved mother, Rosa Lee (McLawhorn) Tuten on March 21, 2021. Rosa Lee was born in Greenville NC on January 6, 1927 to two lov-ing parents, Charlie & Lilly McLawhorn; she was one of nine children and the last of her siblings to depart from this life.
Once married, to the late William Henry Tuten, she migrated to Camden, NJ. The inseparable couple would begin a family that was blessed with ten chil-dren.
Although she was once employed by Campbell Soup she’d earn the rights of her title as a ‘domestic engineer’, she loved & nurtured her family infinitely. Her willingness to love and support her husband and children were unmatched.
Rosa Lee or Ms. Rose as neighbors, church family and friends would call her was a humble butter-fly, known to tell-it-like it is but she held onto her faith and loved the Lord. In years past, she was a member and served at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, New Mickle Baptist Church; was Ordained Church Mother in 2004 at New Strength Gospel Church. For over 50 years, she was known in the neighborhood of down-town Camden for her generosity, southern accent & cheese biscuits.
Rosa Lee’s life and legacy will be forever
remembered through her surviving family mem-bers. Proceeded in death by her husband William Henry Tuten, five sons Zeno, William, James, Pe-ter, Henry, and one daughter Ruth Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters Rosella Watson, Barbara Kelley, Queen Thomas, one son Ernest Tuten and one son-in-law Brian J. Kelley. Affectionately known as ‘Grandmom’ she leaves 30 grandchildren a host of great & great-great grandchildren, and friends. “Say not in grief ‘she is no more’ but in thankful-ness that she was.” – Hebrew Proverb.
