Ida Banks

March 5, 1936 — September 4, 2021

Ida (Pootsie) Delores Banks was born March 5, 1936 at Underwood Hospital in Woodbury, NJ to the late Julia and Isaac Roe, and later raised by Joseph Peel. She passed away peacefully at Inspira Medical Center, Mullica Hill on September 4, 2021.  She had three (3) brothers, Herb Sr., Vince, and Woo.

Ida accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord at First Baptist Church of Jericho.

Ida was raised in Woodbury and attended Woodbury Public Schools. She worked with Sony Records during her career. On September 6, 1953, Ida married her best friend, Willard (Bill) Banks, Sr. In March of 1954, they had their first child, Willard (Bill) Banks, Jr. December 1956, and they had their second child, Joel Banks.  In 1959, Bill and Ida moved to Deptford and in August 1961, they had their last child (predeceased by his mother), Robert Banks. Bill and Pootsie took in many children and raised them as if they were their own.  In 1977, they took custodial custody over their granddaughter Leah and helped their son Willard Jr. to raise her as their daughter. Anyone that knew Pootsie knows she loved HSN and QVC. Still at 85 years of age, she drove a Dodge Charger and loved to go out to eat with her friends.

Ida is survived by her sons, Bill Jr. and Joel (Marian); seven grandchildren, Tellie Archie, Scott Banks, Leah Banks (special daughter), Meredith (Mike) Turpen, Shannon (Dennis) Langston, Jessie Banks and Jake Banks; ten great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Curtis Banks and Janice Roe; and two special grandchildren, Anthony Miller and Kristine Thomas. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
