Dennis White

Dennis Lee White, the son of Johnnie Lee White and Lucye S. White-Rivera, was born on November 27th, 1970, in Camden, New Jersey.  He has three living siblings, Tammy C. White-Gonzalez, Kathy C. White, and Jerry White.

As a child, Dennis attended The Lexington School for the Deaf in New York City for a brief time, and then transferred to the New Jersey Trenton School for the Deaf in Trenton, NJ (currently named the Marie H. Katzenback School for the Deaf).  He then went on to attend Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) in Washington, D.C.

Dennis loved sports, especially football and basketball.  Growing up, he loved to draw and color, and his mother said he loved “choo choo trains.” He was smart, witty, a jokester, and had a great sense of humor; he enjoyed making people laugh. Dennis’s father said that Dennis and his brother Jerry were rarely ever “quiet.”  They both loved playing around and were mischievous.

Dennis was also a great cook; when he came to visit, he loved to go in the kitchen and cook for you.  His favorite two words were “my bad” when he made a mistake and “you trippin” when he felt someone was out of line or did not make sense. Dennis persevered to the end; he did not give up no matter how hard life got, and he was determined to make it to the finish line; and he did! Dennis was a CHAMP because he finished well. God has him now, in perfect peace.

Dennis leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories: his  father, Johnnie Lee White; mother, Lucye S. White-Rivera; stepmother Evadne Whittingham; and step-father, Tony Rivera; sister, Tammy C. White-Gonzalez; Kathy C. White; brother, Jerry White; and brother in law, Robert Gonzalez; children Kadeem Leeper; Triscia White; and Dominique Pettiford; two grandchildren, Khari Amere Leeper-White and Kayden Jayla Leeper-White; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
