Toemaka Holmes-Webb

–

Camden, New Jersey

Meka, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born Toemaka J. Webb on July 12, 1974, in Camden, New Jersey, to her loving parents, James Johnson and Robin Webb. From an early age, she carried the unmistakable resemblance of her father while inheriting the compassionate and giving heart of her mother. She grew into a woman whose warmth, generosity, and love for family left an unforgettable impression on everyone blessed to know her.

Meka was educated in the Camden City Public School System and attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, New Jersey. She later pursued a career in healthcare, where she faithfully served others with kindness, patience, dignity, and compassion. Caring for others was never simply her profession—it was her calling.

Family was the foundation of Toemaka’s life. She shared a close bond with her brothers Eric, Raheem, Greg, Nas, and Mike, but her relationship with her younger brother, Eric, was especially dear. She lovingly called him “E,” while he affectionately called her “Brown.” Through every season of life, they remained by each other’s side, sharing a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Toemaka found one of life’s greatest blessings in her marriage to Bryant Holmes. Together they built a home centered on love, faith, and family—a place where everyone felt welcomed and cared for.

Outside of work, Toemaka embraced life with joy. Gospel music strengthened her spirit, while shopping, traveling, discovering new places, and spending time with loved ones filled her heart. She especially enjoyed taking her children to amusement parks, loved a good crab boil, and enjoyed trips to the casino with her family. She had a special gift for turning ordinary moments into treasured memories.

Above all else, Toemaka’s greatest joy was being a mother. She devoted her life to raising her seven beautiful children, Quadir, Taj, Tai-Quan, Nah’Jole, Kha’Mya, Siani, and Za’Naysia, with unconditional love and unwavering support. She also carried the unimaginable heartbreak of losing two of her beloved children, Nah’Jole and Siani, who preceded her in death.

Later in life, Toemaka found immeasurable joy in her cherished grandchildren, Elias, Ezra, Nasir, and Ky’Leem. Their smiles and laughter brought endless happiness to her heart, and being their grandmother was one of her greatest blessings.
Toemaka was the kind of woman who made everyone feel welcomed, loved, and valued. Her generous heart, infectious smile, unwavering faith, quiet strength, and compassionate spirit touched countless lives. Whether offering encouragement, lending a helping hand, or simply listening, she made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Toemaka was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Johnson and Robin Webb, and her cherished children, Nah’Jole and Siani.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted husband, Bryant Holmes; her loving children, Quadir, Taj, Tai-Quan, Kha’Mya, and Za’Naysia; her cherished grandchildren, Elias, Ezra, Nasir, and Ky’Leem; her devoted brothers, Eric, Raheem, Greg, Nas, and Mike; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, dear friends, and all whose lives were forever enriched by her kindness and love.

Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the beautiful memories Toemaka created and the extraordinary legacy she leaves behind. Her radiant smile will never be forgotten, and the love, strength, and compassion she shared will remain with us always.
