Pennsauken, New Jersey

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Shirley Diane Atkinson, affectionately known as Aunt Di, Moms on August 9th, 2026. Shirley was born on July 8th, 1946, in Salisbury, MD, USA. She spent her vibrant life in various places such as Las Vegas, NV, Southern Pines, NC, Brooklyn, NY, and finally settled in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Guided by her spirit of resilience, she overcame obstacles, achieved her GED, and secured her driver's license through the OIC agency. Her accomplishments were a testament to her character, embodying the verse from Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Shirley was a dedicated paralegal in the Legal Services sector before her retirement. Her work was not just an occupation but a testament to her commitment to justice and fairness. Her passion extended beyond her professional life into her hobbies. Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as bowling and nurturing her many plants, which she often spoke to and reported on. As a proud member and secretary of Club Success, a group of four remarkable African-American women, Shirley's impact was felt by many and will continue to be a source of inspiration.

Family, love, and respect were the pillars upon which Shirley built her life. She is survived by her one sons, Michael L. Atkinson, and was preceded in death by her father, James Atkinson, her mother, Gussy Atkinson, and son, Robert L. Atkinson.
