Ruth Victoria Clement (Ruthie) was born on November 21, 1958 in Camden, NJ to the late James Cleveland Clement and Juanita Mae Clement (Fauntelroy). On September 11, 2020, Ruthie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Ruthie was educated in the Camden School District. After high school, she was employed by Barnes Security Service which included various locations. She later became a dedicated school crossing guard in her beloved city of Camden. She also dedicated her spare time as a volunteer voting registrar. In her latter years, she enjoyed her daily visits to Stars Adult Activity Center where she participated in various activities including her favorite, Bingo.
She enjoyed travelling, dancing, playing spades, playing the lottery, and solving crossword puzzles. While it wasn’t unusual to find her sitting on the porch chatting with her neighbors, spending time with her grandchildren was her favorite thing to do.
Ruthie had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party. She celebrated her 60 th birthday in grand style dancing the night away oxygen tank and all.
Ruthie fell ill a few years ago and couldn’t get around like she used to. However, she would call her mother Juanita on a regular basis to conversate and express her love. Ruthie always ended conversations and visits with “I love you.”
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, La-Kisha Essex (Herb), Erika Smith (Lamont), preceded in death by daughter Tonia Clement, Mother: Juanita Fauntelroy. Sisters: Jacqueline Charlton (Sheldon), Denise Stone, Cynthia Clement, Deneene Ford and Toni Clement. Brothers: Robert Clement and Michael Clement. Grandchildren: Dr. Ka-Lisha Clement-Simons, Ja-Mya Clement-Johnson, Kevin-Ya Clement-Johnson, Michaela Essex, Bry-Anna Clement-Johnson and Isiaha Clement. Aunts: Vera Bryant and Judith Davis (Eddie).
