Camden

Melvin Lugo, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2023, in Camden, New Jersey. Born on March 18, 1971, in Camden, New Jersey, Melvin touched the lives of those around him with his bubbly personality and helpful nature. He was someone who brought joy and warmth into any room he entered.

Melvin's memories are filled with beautiful moments of traveling to Florida. Exploring new places and experiencing different cultures brought him immense happiness.

Although Melvin excelled academically at Camden Public Schools during his formative years, it was his genuine kindness that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. His friends and family often sought his advice because they knew he would provide an empathetic perspective grounded in care and love.

While Melvin's passion for adventure and his compassionate nature stood out prominently in his life, singing held a special place in his heart. His voice would resonate through the walls of the church whenever he took to the stage during Sunday service. Singing allowed Melvin to express himself fully while connecting with God and those around him.

One of Melvin's proudest accomplishments was being able to assist his mother with her daily errands. He found fulfillment in providing support to the woman who had raised him with unwavering love and dedication. Melvin's selflessness shone brightly as he ensured her comfort and well-being.

Melvin is survived by many cherished family members including his parents Nellie and Miguel Lugo; siblings Michael, Idalia, Harold, Shirley, Angelo, Norbeto, and Henry Lugo; as well as his son Melvin Lugo Jr., grandchild, stepfather, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Their lives have been forever touched by his love and the memories created together. He is predeceased by his brother Alejandro.

As we mourn the loss of Melvin Lugo, let us remember him for the joy and laughter he shared with the world. He had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. May his vibrant spirit live on in our memories, reminding us to be kind, compassionate, and always ready to lend a helping hand.
