Juan "Jon" Lugo

September 30, 1975 — March 22, 2024

Juan Antonio Lugo, affectionately known as “JON,” was born on September 30th, 1975 in Guanica, Puerto Rico, to Rosa J. Rivera and David Lugo Sr. Jon was the 7th of 9 children.

In his youth he was educated in Puerto Rico. He later moved to the Pollock area of Camden, NJ to finish his education. In his early teen years, he met his surviving partner Brenda Nieves, he became a dad and was a funny one too, no matter what or where life took him, he always made sure his kids knew how much he loved them. He 6 children. Marcus, Tatiyana, Amya, JaNya, and Elijah Lugo. He was also expecting a grandchild. He was a supportive brother and a cherished son. His ways were the cornerstones of our family’s strength. He was a loving and well-respected uncle. He loved his mother endlessly, he worried about her the most, but always made sure she was taken care of. He was an overprotective brother, more like a father always wanting to know the whereabouts of his siblings. His surviving siblings are Rosa Rosa, Damaris Irizarry, Julissa Irizarry, David Lugo Jr., Marcos Irizarry and Aracelis Irizarry. And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Preceding him in death his son Juan Jr., brother Luis Rivera, and Jorge Morales.

Jon was a great friend, who was always down to ride, a man who was loyal, and very independent. He was also very adamant on keeping his word, if he said something he meant it. He was a wise man who always said "look at the bigger picture.”

Jon accomplished many things throughout his life, including going to Pennco Tech and gained his certification as an electrician. For some time he also worked as a carpenter. He was a handyman for sure.

Jon loved playing dominos, dice and cards. He taught all of his children how to play the card game Tonk, which was our favorite . He was a sports fanatic, a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and the baseball team Phillies. He went to plenty of games and often shared stories of the memories he had at the games. When the Eagles won the Superbowl in 2018, he shared that moment with his 3 daughters and it is a memory that will never be forgotten.

Jon, dad, partner, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend will be greatly missed but he will continue to live through his family, friends and the people’s lives he touched as we continue to share his legacy and memories.

Sorrowfully from the family
