Where to begin? How could you possibly summarize someone’s powerful presence, capture our loved one’s essence, who has been loved so deeply by so many? How, can you describe in mere words a short summarization of a wide quick smile and a goofy laugh, that genuinely made YOU laugh with him? A person who has loved, lost, yet fiercely protected what HE loved? A person whom you have cried with. A man that you have walked along side of him through his journey of life in all stages: success, joy, growth, trials and hard times? A man who has been thoroughly loved by not just his family, but his entire community in which became his family as well.
A man whose loss has been so profoundly and keenly felt, it has united a city as he’s touched so many. A man whose loss has caused a moment of silence for all, simultaneously. A man whose loss is felt so devastatingly that the realization of life without his physical presence, can make one’s heart skip a beat ... then ache. To explain this in words is so difficult to do, as words would never and never be enough to describe him, his life, his impact and most importantly his love if you were never blessed to experience such a life in person.
Because here on earth it feels like everything good has been missing since you left because here on earth everything is different. I hope the angels know what they have since you’ve arrived. I hope that your days in heaven are filled with loving nights.
He was a son, a father, a brother, a friend. He was important. He was a person who had fears, vulnerability, passion, courage, resilience, and a quiet strength. He was a man of inspiration and lived by his faith and conviction of his principles. A man that never gave his word lightly. A man that has stood by and behind us all no matter the odds. Joshua survives with his mother Rita Lopez & Rey Cardona. His siblings: Jason Cardona, Joel Cardona, Michael Lopez, Jonathon Cardona, Jessica Cardona, Jeanette Cardona, Aisha Cardona and Jasmin Brown. His children Zi’yon Cardona & his late daughter Harmony Cardona. His nieces and nephews Genesis Martinez, Sincere Bethea, Nycere Cardona, Amavi Cardona, Samar Wilson, Tristan Brown. His late Maternal Grandparents Evelyn Quinones & Pedro Quinones and his late Paternal Grandparents Ana Felix & Gaspar Cardona. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.
Joshua had a passion for dirtbike riding, outdoors, adventure. With a quick joke and laugh ready made for anyone, his sense of humor always at the forefront wearing a mischievous grin when it was time to play. And it was always time to play. Holidays were his favorite, and he made sure that at least one of his sisters cooked that holiday meal just for him. He was attentive to not only his children, nieces and nephews but the children of his friends as well, which he considered his as well.
Today, we celebrate his life in unity, as one as he would have wanted. Today, we hug our neighbors to the left and love our neighbors to the right of us as he would have wanted. Today, we smile with heavy hearts knowing that his presence will never be forgotten. Today, we will honor the memory and life of Joshua Ray Cardona-Lopez.
