Harley Lee Dumas

November 10, 1954 — March 4, 2023

Camden

Harley Lee Dumas, Jr. was born on November 10, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Harley Dumas, Sr. (Wadesboro, North Carolina), and the late Luretha Hickson (Barnwell, South Carolina). Harley attended public schools in Camden, New Jersey and Lawnside, New Jersey. After attending high school, Harley was employed in the maintenance field for several years. He worked for Landmark Apartments and other hotels and schools in the south Jersey area.

Harley was a musical connoisseur and history buff! Music was the soundtrack of his life. During his young adult years, Harley was a disc jockey who enjoyed dancing at discos and clubs. Harley loved taking long walks through downtown Camden and Cooper River Park while playing old school R&B, jazz, and club mix music over a speaker or headphones. During the summer, Harley avidly attended many outdoor concerts with his friends. Harley was known to share the history behind each song that he loved with others.

Harley was a friendly and kindhearted guy who was often willing to assist his family and friends in need. He protected his brothers, sisters, and family and would often check in by stopping by or calling them.

Harley will be mourned and missed by his brothers (Gregory Dumas and Zachary Dumas), stepmother (Vickie Horne), stepsister (Christine “Tammy “ Lambert), son (Harley Dumas, III), daughter (Shanae Moore), grandchildren (Shalea Dumas, Treyshon Dumas, and Tatyana Dumas), and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, great-grandchildren, and friends. Harley leaves us to join his beloved father, mother, brother (Bruce Hickson), stepsister (Wanda Hill), granddaughter (Brittney Leary), and nephew (Glenn Lewis), in heavenly rest!
