George L. Tazewell, Sr. son of the late Harriett Jessie Ann Wise and Charlie Upshur, was born on November 17, 1928, in West Virginia. Triumphantly and gracefully he transitioned from earth to glory on Friday, October 27, 2023.
George was always a happy generous person and welcomed everyone with open arms. His infectious ways and loving spirit will be missed, because it always brightened up everyone’s day. One could not be in the same room with him and not have a lightened, happy feeling that remained present upon leaving his company.
He spent his life as a Merchant Seaman, and was highly successful in that field and all other alternatives, as he forged a worthwhile career. However, being sea-worthy was the joy of his life and offered a remarkable payload, which provided for his children and family.
He was known for his extraordinary personality, superior good looks and being a soldier for the Good Lord. His prayer was always “God bless You” and “I love You, Baby”. Adoringly known as “Daddy”, he will be severely missed by his children and all who loved the wonderful man that he was before God and the world. He was a distinctively different leader.
“The Ripple Effect of a Leader’s Enthusiasm and Optimism is Awesome”
He leaves to mourn his children, Daughters Vanessa (Danny), Pauline (Reeves), Varalen, Leslie (Andrew), Sillia, and Harriett J.; His sons Donald, Leroy, and George Jr.; George is also survived by a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. A very special friend Betsy. A of host Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.
He is predeceased in death by Harriett M., Gloria.
Lovingly Submitted,
The Family
