Eleanor Thornton was the 4th of 9 Daughters born on August 29, 1950 to the late Jessie and Willie Mae Thornton in Pittsburgh, PA. She was affectionately called “Big Girl”.
Eleanor leaves to mourn her Children Aaron Thornton, Traci (Anthony) Murray, Grandchildren Aaron Thornton, Aaron Murray, Ashley Murray. Sisters Martha, Jessie, Elnora, Shirley, Mary, and Marie. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a great crowd of spiritual Brothers & Sisters. The family would like to acknowledge a few of her Special Friends, Lilly, Arneice, Elizabeth, and Linda.
Eleanor was a very hard worker, in the 1990’s she came in contact with Bible Truths. Elizabeth & Linda were instrumental in sharing basic bible truths with her. Eleanor continued her bible training with Arneice. She often lamented to her friends about the how grateful she was to Jehovah for drawing her to the truth. Eleanor spoke often of how far Jehovah bought her. In retrospect she recognized something stood in the way of those Bible Truths; she exclaimed “I get it, the truth is finally reaching my heart, I want to serve Jehovah”. I want to do the work Jesus did for his father “preach”.
Eleanor now having opened her heart to respond to the Truth; it was only fitting that on February 5, 2017, she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God by water baptism. Learning Bible truths and sharing them with others was dear to her. Her dearest friend Lilly Williams became an even closer friend. As spiritual sisters now they worked together and served their God Jehovah!
Eleanor loved working with the children. The work at the Day Care here in Parkside bought her much joy! She loved shopping, reading, poetry and enjoying a nice dinner with family and friends. She was raised and educated in Braddock Hills PA.
Eleanor our beloved, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Cousin, and Friend quietly fell asleep in death on September 13, 2022. Sisters Doris and Barbara Preceded her in death.
