Darryl Glenn High was affectionately known to his family and
friends as Darryl G. High! He was born in Camden, NJ on
December 27, 1955 to the late Grace Lavinia High-Grayson and
the late Thomas Robert Quinton-Booth. Darryl was one of six
children (3 boys and 3 girls), and he was the fourth child within
the family. After surviving several complicated surgeries, Darryl
entered into eternal rest on February 8, 2023 while at home in
Atlantic City, NJ.
Darryl graduated from Hatch Middle School and later attended
Camden High School. In 1973, he also completed hands-on
training in automotive repairs at Job Corps. As a teenager, Darryl
became passionate about cars, boxing, and as we all know, girls!
With these passions, he would later grow up to own multiple
classic automobiles, become a notorious street fighter and a
chick-magnet who rivaled the prowess of Denzel Washington!
After taking several Bible Correspondence courses and receiving
multiple certificates, Darryl later gave his life to Christ. With a
profound knowledge of the scriptures, he allowed God to use him
through witness and ministry to others.
To cherish his memory, Darryl is survived by his wife Joanne
Wilson, a host of siblings: Jerome (Bird) High, Darlene High,
Robin High, Dom Grayson, Jacqueline Clement-Charlton, Denise
Clement and the late Linda High-Williams; his children: Icsha
Wilson, Darnell Diggs, Khalif Blue, Zaire Ellis (Kareem), Zakiyyah
Taylor-Griggs (Jefferey) and the late Darryl Wilson; sixteen
grandchildren, one great-grandson and a host of loving family
and friends.
To use an aphorism that he created and frequently said to others,
'see you round like a doughnut' Darryl!!
