Ashanta K Benham

June 2, 1974 — June 12, 2023

Camden

June 12th, 2023, Ashanta Kenyetta Benham, affectionately known as Shante, traded her bright light on this earth for her beautiful wings in heaven.

Ashanta Kenyetta Webb was born on Sunday, June 2, 1974, to Ms. Cynthia Webb and Mr. Tony Thomas in Voorhees, New Jersey. As one of 5 children, Shante was revered as the “nurturer” amongst her siblings. Ashanta graduated from Camden High School in Camden, New Jersey, in 1992. She also completed an associate degree at Rowan University in Camden, New Jersey.

In 1997, Shante met the love of her life, Corey Benham of Cartersville, GA.  After a long-distance courtship, they would later marry in 2000. As a result of this union, Shante gained a son, Jamal Deshunte Benham (27). Shante and Corey began their lives together in Birmingham, AL. After three years, careers moved the Benham’s to Columbus, GA where their family would begin to grow. In 2005, Shante gave birth to her first child, Kendall Jackson Benham (17). In 2007, she gave birth to her second child, Chase Alexander Benham (16). Over the years, their careers would lead them to Minneapolis, MN and then to Wellington, FL where they currently reside.

Shante was known as the “Life of the Party”. She NEVER met a stranger. Wherever her stylish and graceful presence appeared, she left grand smiles and heartfelt laughter. To know her was to love her and experience her love. And she deeply loved and cherished her husband, children, family, and friends. Ashanta was a dedicated employee and gave her all to her career development, and every position that she filled.
